Your brake pads are an essential factor of your braking system and they are a part that you should never be overlooked. Brake pads compress to create friction on your brake rotors which causes your car to stop.So your brake pads work really hard, really often..
The amount of pressure they have to exert to pull up a moving vehicle is massive and produces a lot of heat that causes wear on the brake pads.
Worn brake pads means less effective braking which is dangerous on the roads. Which is why regular inspection and measuring of your brake pad's condition is important.

Brakes that squeal can be a warning that your brake pads are wearing thin; many pads have a small metal piece set into them which will scrape on the disc when your brake pads are degraded, causing that high pitch noise. However, this doesn’t mean you should wait until you hear noises to get your pads assessed, we advise having your brakes inspected at every service.
It is important to remember that brake noises are not just caused by normal wear and any unusual noises anywhere in your car should always be investigated by a qualified professional mechanic.
At Brendale Automotive we offer a free 65 Point Safety Check with every car service. As part of our Safety Check we inspect the brake pads for wear and tell you if they require replacing. We can also recommend the right pad for your local conditions and driving style.

Brake Pads can last anywhere between 15,000 to 70,000 km's. This can change according to a number of causes such as; driving conditions and style, regular heavy loads.
